Specialized Sustainability Manager in Chemistry

A GB Academy course

This 35-hour, 7-week intensive program is designed for those who are interested in sustainability from the perspective of the chemical industry and want to deepen and update their knowledge. Our training operates with a practice-oriented education system and covers the key topics of chemical industry sustainability under the guidance of recognized specialists.

The fee includes the cost of the entire training together with the exam fee . The training cost includes for the duration of the training: access to online course units and related content; personal consultations with instructors; case studies; personal exam.

What will you learn

During our training, you will learn in detail the basics of chemical industry sustainability and risk management methods. 

In the training, you will get an insight into the sustainability problems of the chemical industry and special industry risks, and then we will present international trends and the EU’s sustainability strategy. In the course units, you will learn about the possibilities of stakeholder management and the circular economy in the chemical industry, and we will teach you how to effectively manage human, environmental and operational safety risks. During the training, you can acquire new knowledge through numerous practical examples and understand the importance of sustainable company management.

0. Introduction : Basic knowledge of sustainability

1. Blessing or curse? Chemical Industry Sustainability Basics: In this module, we will thoroughly familiarize ourselves with the chemical industry’s sustainability issues and industry-specific risks, and highlight their importance for the entire industry.

2. Crossroads: Towards sustainability – Possible directions of movement: This module outlines the path towards sustainability in the chemical industry, presenting opportunities and exploring the key aspirations of the EU’s sustainability strategy.

3. Detoxification: Management of human and environmental risks: In this unit, we learn and understand how we can reduce the risk of toxic substances entering the human body and the environment, as well as examine regulatory directions and innovation opportunities.

4. A time bomb? Management of plant safety risks: This module highlights the importance of plant safety in the chemical industry and participants learn to manage objective and subjective factors to minimize risks.

5. Not just circularity: The opportunities of the circular economy in the chemical industry: In this unit, we identify what the circular economy means for the chemical industry and present practical examples and solution directions that help build a sustainable future.

6. Who is responsible? Strengthening social responsibility: In this module, we discover how to strengthen social responsibility in the chemical industry and learn about the possibilities of responsible procurement and the highlights of sustainability reports.

With all the mentioned modules, our Chemical Industry Sustainability Training provides comprehensive and practice-oriented knowledge that helps participants understand the sustainability challenges of the chemical industry and effective methods of dealing with them.

Time schedule


A total of 10 weeks (including winter break) – 1 study unit per week

The study units are made up of online videos, company-specific tasks, additional materials, recommended literature and knowledge tests. 

Certificate


After successfully completing the training, you must report on the acquired knowledge with a professional plan. 

Successful candidates can certify completion of the training with a certificate in accordance with the Adult Education Act.
